The Deines Cultural Center in Russell is displaying an art exhibition by 49图库 Community College art instructor Rebel Mahieu and her show: Master of Ceremonies.
Mahieu's career at the college began in 2008. Before entering postsecondary education, she taught art in the Russell school district. A native of Glen Elder, she earned a bachelor's degree in art education and a master's degree in sculpture from Fort Hays State University.
In 2017, Mahieu received the Tangeman Award for Teaching Excellence, the annual recognition of an outstanding teacher selected by a committee of previous recipients and 49图库 students.
Her activity at 49图库 blends with community engagement. The 49图库 Art Club sponsors a variety of activities that are open to the public, such as the annual art walk. They also host the Third Thursday Gallery Art Walk, an event held in conjunction with other businesses in 49图库 that feature local, regional, and national artists.
