CARES Act Report
45-Day Report
was signed into law on March 27, 2020, to make education stabilization money available through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF).
In accordance with regulations set forth by the United States Department of Education and compliance with Section 18004(e) of the CARES Act, 49ͼ¿â is providing the following 30-day Fund Report.
- On May 11, 2020, 49ͼ¿â signed and returned the Certification and
Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less
than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to
provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
- 49ͼ¿â received $234,724.50 from the US Department of Education to award to students.
- To date, 49ͼ¿â has awarded $235,500 with an additional $4,100 pending disbursement.
- Based on Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and the guidelines
from the US Department of Education, as well as the requirements set forth by 49ͼ¿â
Community College, 183 students were eligible at the time of distribution to receive Emergency Financial
Aid Grants under section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
- To date, 183 students of 49ͼ¿â have received funds.
- On April 27, 2020, 49ͼ¿â published an application for students to
complete to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the
CARES Act. The guidelines set forth by 49ͼ¿â were as follows:
To be eligible for this grant, students must be enrolled in one or more 49ͼ¿â Spring 2020 course(s) and be eligible to participate in the Title IV program of the Higher Education Act. The following students are NOT eligible for this grant:
High School Students
International Students
Non-US Citizens
Those who were taking classes 100% on-line prior to March 16, 2020 - One hundred thirty applications were received, of which 110 were eligible based on
Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and the guidelines from
the US Department of Education. 49ͼ¿â then ran reports based on
Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) as well as reports of students who were taking
classes in a face-to-face modality prior to March 16, 2020, when all courses at 49ͼ¿â
were moved to an exclusively on-line modality. Based on EFC and full-time/part-time
status, 49ͼ¿â created a tiered funding chart. Each student who
was eligible based on the criterion established based on EFC and/or through their
application was awarded funds prior to June 1, 2020.
- Students received an email regarding their ability to apply for the funds and the information was posted on
the college website. Frequently asked questions for general information was provided
on the 49ͼ¿â website. The application was published on April 27, 2020, and closed on
May 15, 2020.
45-DAY UPDATE
As of July 1, 2020, 187 students had been awarded and distributed $239,600 in CARES Act Emergency financial assistance for students.
As of August 1, 2020, the following information is still accurate and true:

I affirm 49ͼ¿â has signed and returned the CARES Act certification and agreement form and is providing the mandated 50% of emergency financial aid grants to our students until funds are exhausted.
